Trump Declares US Will Not Be Blackmailed as VP Vance Pushes for Immediate Unrestricted Access to Strait of Hormuz and Iran Responds by Demanding Release of Its Frozen Billions

The United States has taken a firm stance in its ongoing standoff with Iran, as Donald Trump declared that Washington “will not be blackmailed” amid rising tensions over maritime access and economic demands.

The warning comes as Vice President JD Vance pushes for immediate and unrestricted access to the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply passes. U.S. officials argue that ensuring free navigation through the strait is essential to stabilizing energy markets and maintaining international trade flows.

Iran has responded by insisting that any agreement must include the release of billions of dollars in Iranian funds frozen abroad under sanctions. Officials in Tehran say these financial restrictions must be lifted before they consider easing control over key shipping lanes or returning to broader negotiations.

The dispute highlights the deep divide between both sides, with Washington maintaining military and economic pressure while Tehran demands relief from sanctions and financial constraints. The disagreement over access to the Strait of Hormuz has become a central issue, complicating diplomatic efforts and delaying progress toward a potential agreement.

Although a ceasefire remains in place, negotiations have largely stalled, with both sides holding firm on their conditions. Analysts warn that the continued deadlock increases the risk of escalation, particularly in a region already sensitive to disruptions in energy supply and security.

For now, there is no clear path forward, as the United States and Iran remain locked in a high-stakes confrontation with significant implications for global stability and energy markets.
