President Trump Blasts Leak That Transformed Secret Operation to Extract Injured U.S. Airman Deep Inside Iran Into a Much More Difficult and Perilous Mission, Pledging to Treat It as a Serious National Security Matter With Legal Consequences

U.S. President Donald Trump has strongly condemned a leak of classified information that he says significantly complicated a high-risk military operation to rescue a wounded American airman deep inside Iran, vowing serious legal consequences for those responsible.

Speaking from the White House, Trump described the disclosure as a “grave national security breach” that transformed what had been a covert extraction mission into a far more dangerous and complex operation. According to the president, the leak revealed that U.S. forces had initially been unable to reach the downed airman, potentially alerting Iranian forces to his location and status. 

The airman, part of a crew from a downed F-15E fighter jet, had been stranded behind enemy lines in mountainous terrain after ejecting from the aircraft. U.S. officials said he was seriously wounded but managed to evade capture for an extended period while awaiting rescue. 

Trump emphasized that the leak not only endangered the life of the injured service member but also put American rescue teams at heightened risk during an already perilous mission. He warned that the U.S. government would aggressively pursue the individual responsible, stating that those involved could face prosecution under national security laws.

“This was a highly sensitive operation, and someone chose to expose it,” Trump said. “We will find out who did it, and they will face consequences.”

The president also suggested that legal pressure could be applied to the media organization that published the leaked details, signaling a potential clash between the administration and press freedom advocates. 

Despite the complications, U.S. forces ultimately carried out a successful rescue in what officials have described as one of the most daring search-and-rescue missions in recent military history. The operation reportedly involved special operations forces, aircraft support, and coordinated intelligence efforts under hostile conditions. 

The incident comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, with ongoing military engagements and heightened rhetoric on both sides. Analysts warn that the leak controversy could further inflame an already volatile situation, while also raising broader concerns about operational security during wartime.

An official investigation into the source of the leak is now underway.
