JUST IN: Piers Morgan issues savage two-word verdict on bombshell Former Prince Andrew’s arrest

Piers Morgan took to social media to share his reaction to the news of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest. The former Duke of York was apprehended by police on suspicion of misconduct in public office. This comes after unmarked police vehicles were seen arriving at the shamed Royal’s home in Sandringham, where he has been residing since leaving Windsor.

This marks the first time the father-of-two, who also turns 66 today, has been arrested since his links with billionaire sex convict Jeffrey Epstein were revealed. Despite the numerous allegations, Andrew has consistently and fiercely denied any wrongdoing.

Taking to X/Twitter, Piers issued a brutal two-word verdict, as he informed his followers: “BREAKING NEWS: Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrested on the Sandringham royal estate by police investigating misconduct in public office. Stunning news.”

If found guilty, the maximum sentence for misconduct in public office is life imprisonment.

Thames Valley Police, who did not name Andrew, in accordance with UK law, said in a statement on Thursday: “As part of the investigation, we have today (19/2) arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.

“The man remains in police custody at this time. We will not be naming the arrested man, as per national guidance. Please also remember that this case is now active so care should be taken with any publication to avoid being in contempt of court.”

Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said: “Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office.

“It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence. We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time.”

This isn’t the first time Piers has spoken out against Andrew, as the broadcaster famously criticised the royals’ car crash 2019 BBC interview and argued that the former prince lied about his relationship with Epstein and failed to show sufficient empathy for victims.

The journalist also questioned Andrew’s out-of-court settlement with Virginia Giuffre, estimated at £12 million. The former GMB star probed into how this was funded and argued that the settlement did not absolve Andrew’s need to tell the truth.

After the Department of Justice released the Epstein emails, Piers stated: “There are many unanswered questions, but one fact we know is that Prince Andrew lied to Emily Maitlis.” He added that Andrew won’t “ever be able to clear his name” unless he gives evidence under oath, but “I’m not holding my breath.”
