FIFA has been thrown into turmoil after several board members and top executives confirmed the launch of an internal investigation into the controversial “Peace Prize” recently awarded to former U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to senior officials, the decision was allegedly made solely by FIFA President Gianni Infantino without the knowledge, consent, or approval of the organization’s governing board.

Multiple insiders say they were “blindsided” by the announcement during the World Cup events and quickly moved to demand answers.

Concerns now center on potential violations of FIFA’s internal rules, as well as fears that Infantino may have misused his authority to unilaterally authorize a high-profile award with political implications.

Sources within FIFA say board members are preparing to take “significant corrective measures,” which could include disciplinary action, a vote to limit Infantino’s executive powers, or—if wrongdoing is confirmed—a push for formal censure or leadership restructuring.

The investigation is expected to unfold rapidly as global backlash grows. FIFA officials say they hope the probe will restore organizational transparency and address what many describe as one of the most contentious decisions in recent FIFA history.
