Iran Vows Swift and Decisive Retaliation Against Any US Strikes on Its Infrastructure as Foreign Ministry Brands Trump’s “Power Plant Day” Threats a “Criminal Mindset” and Public Incitement to War Crimes

Iran has vowed a swift and decisive response to any U.S. military action targeting its infrastructure, as leaders in Tehran condemn recent threats from former U.S. President Donald Trump as dangerous and unlawful.

The warning comes after Trump publicly suggested potential strikes on Iran’s power plants and bridges—comments that Iranian officials say reflect a “criminal mindset” and amount to incitement to war crimes.

In response, Iran’s Foreign Ministry and military leadership made it clear that any attack on the country’s energy or industrial facilities would trigger immediate retaliation, not only against U.S. interests but also against allied infrastructure across the region.

Iranian officials emphasized that their strategy would be proportional but forceful, signaling readiness to target energy networks, transportation systems, and other critical assets linked to the United States. Analysts warn that such retaliation could extend beyond direct military confrontation to include cyberattacks and strikes on economic infrastructure.

The exchange of threats marks a significant escalation in rhetoric between the two sides, with both appearing willing to target infrastructure that could have severe consequences for civilians. Experts have raised concerns that attacks on power plants and similar facilities may violate international law due to their impact on non-combatants.

Meanwhile, the broader conflict continues to intensify. Reports indicate that Iran has already demonstrated its willingness to strike regional energy sites, while warning it would show “zero restraint” if further attacks are carried out against its own infrastructure.

Diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation remain ongoing, but with both sides hardening their positions, fears are growing that the conflict could widen significantly, threatening stability across the Middle East and global energy markets.
