GOOD NEWS: Brittany Mahomes Inducted into UT Tyler Athletics 2026 Hall of Fame Class
Tyler, Texas – The University of Texas at Tyler announced its 2026 Athletics Hall of Fame class on Friday, with Brittany Mahomes (formerly Matthews) among the honorees for her standout career in women’s soccer.
Mahomes, who played for the Patriots from 2013 to 2016, ranks second all-time in program history with 78 total points, 31 goals, 10 game-winning goals, and 16 assists. She is also tied for third in games played with 74 appearances.
Her senior season in 2016 was particularly dominant, as she set single-season records with 40 points, 18 goals, and 7 game-winning goals. She also tied the program’s single-match record with multiple hat tricks during that campaign.
Beyond her playing days, Mahomes has become a prominent figure in professional soccer. She is a co-owner of the Kansas City Current in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and played a key role in developing the world’s first stadium built specifically for a women’s soccer team.
In November, she was named to the inaugural NWSL Advisory Board, joining high-profile athletes and leaders such as Chris Paul, Julie Foudy, Brandi Chastain, Sue Bird, Eli Manning, Ken Griffey Jr., Alex Morgan, Lindsey Vonn, and Magic Johnson.
“I’m honored to be inducted into the UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame,” Mahomes said in a statement. “My time at UT Tyler played a huge role in shaping my life, career, and the person I am today. I’m especially grateful to Coach Webb.
Her belief in me, leadership, and constant support had an incredible impact on my journey both on and off the field. UT Tyler will always hold a special place in my heart.
I’m so thankful for the experiences and the people who were part of making my time in Tyler one I will never forget.”
The 2026 class also includes Dr. Howard Patterson and the 2016 national championship softball team. The induction ceremony is scheduled for March 28 at the Green Acres Baptist Church Crosswalk Conference Center in Tyler.
Mahomes’ recognition highlights her lasting legacy at UT Tyler, where her on-field excellence laid the foundation for her ongoing contributions to women’s sports.
