London, UK – February 19, 2026 – Former Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has been released from police custody following his arrest earlier today on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

The 66-year-old brother of King Charles III was detained by Thames Valley Police in the morning at a property in Norfolk on his birthday. He underwent nearly 12 hours of questioning before being released “under investigation” late Thursday evening, meaning he is neither charged nor cleared, and the probe continues.

The arrest stems from fresh allegations tied to recently released documents related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Authorities are examining claims that Andrew shared confidential government information during his time as a UK trade envoy with Epstein.

Thames Valley Police confirmed in a statement: “A man in his sixties from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office… The arrested man has now been released under investigation.”

King Charles III reportedly commented earlier that “the law must take its course.” Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.

Photos captured Andrew leaving the police station in a vehicle, marking a dramatic escalation in the long-running scrutiny over his Epstein links. The investigation remains active, with potential for further developments.

Buckingham Palace has declined to comment beyond acknowledging the police process.
