Singer Khalid Confirms He’s Gay After Being Outed: ‘I Was Never Hiding’

“I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies business,” the singer wrote on X.

Khalid is opening up about his sexuality.

The “Talk” singer, 26, came out as gay in a series of tweets on X (formerly Twitter) Friday, Nov. 22.

He first posted a rainbow Emoji with a set of exclamation points and wrote, “there yall go. next topic please lol.”

In a follow-up tweet, he confirmed his sexuality by replying to a fan who wrote, “Wait hope Mr Khalid isn’t GEHHH!”

“I am!” Khalid wrote in response. “And that’s okay.”

In a third tweet, the “Favorite Song” singer said he’s “not ashamed” about his sexuality after he says he was outed.

“I got outted [sic] and the world still continues to turn,” wrote Khalid. “Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality!

In reality it ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me 🖤 love yall.”

PEOPLE reached out to a rep for Khalid for comment.

In additional tweets, Khalid clarified that he was never “hiding” his sexuality.

One social media user wrote, “the closet was glass baby. but we accept you. its not about who you love its about your artistry!”

Khalid replied, “I wasn’t hiding anything! It’s just not any of your business.”

The Grammy-nominated singer echoed a similar sentiment when one fan said he released an “LGBTQ anthem” with his 2022 song “Satellite,” pointing out that Khalid “wasn’t ‘hiding’ his sexuality.”

“thank you!!!!” Khalid wrote, adding, “I was never hiding.”

In August, Khalid released his third studio album, Sincere.

It debuted in the top 10 of Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart in its first week.
