Randy Moss’ Son Slams Larry Fitzgerald Sr. for Posting About His Father’s Health Problems: ‘You Have No Right’
“I do not believe my father talks to you, so check your f—ing sources,” Thaddeus Moss wrote on X
Randy Moss’ son didn’t mince words after Larry Fitzgerald Sr. posted about his father’s health on social media, claiming that Moss has liver cancer.
Amid Moss’ leave of absence from his job on Sunday NFL Countdown for a “personal health challenge,” Fitzgerald Sr., the father of former star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald Jr. and a sports reporter, posted about Moss’ health on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
In a since-deleted post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Fitzgerald Sr. wrote, “66th NFL Hall of Fame Ceremony here in Las Vegas just heard that Vikings HOF Randy Moss has liver cancer.
Let’s show the power of prayer and pull Moss through this..I love you Randy.”
Moss’ son Thaddeus responded directly to the post and slammed Fitzgerald Sr. for publicly speculating on his father’s health. “This is disgusting.
You have no right to try to make private matters public for the sake of engagement,” Thaddeus replied on X. “I do not believe my father talks to you, so check your f—ing sources.”
On Friday, Dec. 6, it was announced that Randy, 47, would be stepping away from Sunday NFL Countdown to focus on his health — although Randy has not specified what those issues are.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter shared the network’s statement on Moss’ leave of absence in a post on X.
“Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss will step away from Sunday NFL Countdown for an extended time to focus on a personal health challenge.
He briefly addressed the matter at the start of the show on Dec. 1,” the network’s statement read.
“For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating Countdown with his insight and passion.
He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready,” the statement continued.
ESPN’s statement followed Randy’s Dec. 1 announcement during the Sunday NFL Countdown broadcast that his family is “battling something internally.”
Randy then said he has “some great doctors around” him and that he feels “great,” but added, “I’m battling something I need all the prayer warriors.”
In an Instagram post ahead of the Dec. 1 show, Randy urged fans to take their health seriously. “Y’all do your checkups, get your blood work done, and we’ll work through it,” he said in the video.
In a follow-up clip, Randy addressed the questions that are likely to come regarding his health.
“There’s going to be people concerned and asking questions. At this time, I’m just going to keep a lot of things private. Just bear with me. But like I said, I need your prayers,” he said at the time.
After Thaddeus’ post on Dec. 10, his father’s former teammate, Brett Favre, also posted well wishes and prayers on X.
“Prayers to Randy Moss and his family.🙏 Randy is and will always be one of the all time greats to ever run a route. Definitely on the NFL WR Mt. Rushmore,” Favre wrote.
Thaddeus thanked Favre, writing “Brett, the support is appreciated, truly. This is not true. My father will address the world when he is ready to.”
