NFL Legend Randy Moss Reveals Health Scare and Asks Fans for Prayers: ‘Battling Something Internal’

“I got a great team of doctors and I got a great family around me,” the analyst said on the ‘Sunday NFL Countdown’ set. Randy Moss shared a cryptic message about his health.

On Sunday, Dec. 1, the former New England Patriots star and current ESPN analyst, 47, opened up on Instagram and later on Sunday NFL Countdown about “battling something internal.”

“Throughout the week of the holidays, your boy has been battling something internal,” Moss revealed.

“I just ask for all the prayer warriors to put their blessing hands on me and my family through these hard times.”

“I got a great team of doctors and I got a great family around me,” he continued, before encouraging viewers to take care of themselves.

“Y’all do your checkups, get your blood work done, and we’ll work through it.”

Moss made headlines last week for wearing sunglasses during the sports pregame broadcast.

The former athlete is now saying that he is wearing the sunglasses due to the health scare.

“All right, so you see me with my Michigan turnover glasses on, y’all know what I’m battling,” he said. “God bless y’all. Thanks for the prayers.”

Moss quickly shared a follow-up video in which he said, “There’s going to be people concerned and asking questions.

At this time, I’m just going to keep a lot of things private. Just bear with me. But like I said, I need your prayers.”

Moss had the support of his colleagues on the sports show while filming the video.

The Hall of Famer later made an announcement during the broadcast, according to a clip of the moment on social media.

“I just want to let the viewers know that me and my wife, me and my family, we are battling something internally.

I have some great doctors around me,” he said. “I couldn’t miss the show. I wanted to be here with you guys.”

Moss went on to say he feels “great,” but further clarified, “if y’all see me with these Michigan turnover glasses that I have on, it’s not being disrespectful because I’m on television.

Man, I’m battling something I need all the prayer warriors.”

The wide receiver played 14 seasons in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, Patriots, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers.

Earlier this year, Moss took over for Peyton Manning as host of the Netflix series Receiver, which is co-produced by Manning’s Ohama Productions and is a follow-up to his series Quarterback.

“This year, we switched it up. Instead of giving quarterbacks even more love, we followed five of the league’s best pass catchers throughout the 2023 season,” Moss said in the opening of the series.
