It’s definitely not what we would expect from him.
Ben Affleck is getting back into dating following his recent divorce from Jennifer Lopez, which was finalized in January. But he doesn’t seem to be having the easiest time after he revealed a tidbit about the one thing he struggles with when it comes to dating: flirting.
During the press tour for his new movie, The Accountant 2, he sat down for interviews with his co-star, Jon Bernthal, and the director, Gavin O’Connor. He spoke about how he related to his character and said that he also struggles with flirting.
Hereโs a guy whoโs trying to figure out โ he wants to have a relationship with a woman, heโs trying to figure out how to do that, like, how to put yourself out there,” he said about his character. “You know, heโs not comfortable extending himself. He doesnโt really know how to flirt exactly. Heโs not comfortable, like so many of us.”
Affleck also pointed out that it’s never easy figuring out relationships, especially in the beginning stages when you’re trying to figure out how that person communicates. However, these feelings he shared in the interview are more about his character than his own experiences.
In his British GQ cover story, he described his split from Lopez as cordial, saying, “Thereโs a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly, […] the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting.”
Affleck said that there was “no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue. There is no, ‘This is what happened.
He’s seemingly open to dating following the finalization of their divorce. An insider source told PEOPLE back in February that he’s “casually” seeing people. “This doesn’t seem to be a focus though,” clarifying that he’s focused on work.
