Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and husband to tennis legend Serena Williams, has once again showcased his innovative use of artificial intelligence – but this time, it’s a little more personal and a lot more playful.

Ohanian, who is known for using AI tools in everything from generating bedtime stories to creating workout routines, recently took to social media to reveal his latest project: turning his daughter Olympia into a virtual puppy using AI-generated art.

On Sunday, Ohanian posted the result on his Instagram story – a sweet image of a puppy sitting on a pink mattress, staring curiously into the camera. But this wasn’t just any dog – it was Olympia, transformed through the popular Ghibli AI art style.

“Everyone’s using AI to turn their pets into humans, but I’m here turning my child into a dog,” Ohanian joked in a caption on X (formerly Twitter). He followed that up on Instagram, writing, “Oops, I turned @olympiaohanian into a dog.”

Ohanian’s playful AI experiments reflect a bigger tech vision
The tech entrepreneur’s latest creation is in line with his ever-growing embrace of AI – not just for entertainment, but also as a powerful tool for the future.

In a recent post, Ohanian shared images of a relaxed family Saturday, featuring arts and crafts with Olympia, a Chelsea Women’s Football Club match on TV, and the now-viral AI puppy transformation. The post was simply captioned: “Saturday. Arts & Crafts. @chelseafcw. Turned @olympiaohanian into a puppy. Full moon. Good day.”

This isn’t the first time Ohanian has used AI to creatively engage with his family life. Just two weeks ago, he reacted to an AI-generated superhero action figure of himself, joking on X, “I’d get this for my daughters, knowing they would never play with it, but just for the reaction when they see their dad as a little action figure. lol. Please make these IRL.”

Ohanian has also been a vocal advocate for AI’s broader potential. Speaking at a conference in Qatar earlier this year, he predicted a future where users would have full control over their social media algorithms, allowing them to set their own tolerance levels and customize their online experiences.

His company Reddit has already taken significant steps in the AI space, including a $60 million licensing deal with Google to allow Reddit content to be used for AI training, and a partnership with OpenAI to improve ChatGPT’s capabilities.
