President Donald Trump Says U.S.-Iran Peace Talks Are “Possible” This Friday and Gives Iran a Deadline to Submit a Unified Deal Proposal, Stating That Everything Will Be Decided Within the Next 48 Hours Amid Ongoing Ceasefire Extension
Despite stalled negotiations in Pakistan and continued denials from Tehran, Donald Trump has declared that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran will remain in effect until a unified proposal is presented and discussions are formally concluded.

Speaking amid rising uncertainty over the future of diplomatic efforts, Trump emphasized that the ceasefire extension is intended to provide additional time for negotiations to regain momentum. Talks had been expected to resume in Islamabad, but disagreements over participation and key conditions led to delays, with Iranian officials signaling reluctance to engage under current circumstances.
The U.S. president indicated that discussions could restart as early as Friday if Iran is able to consolidate its position and submit what he described as a coherent and unified framework for negotiation. He expressed confidence that once talks resume, progress toward a resolution could come quickly.
Iranian authorities, however, have rejected claims that they are preparing to re-enter negotiations, maintaining that U.S. actions—including ongoing military pressure and restrictions affecting Iranian exports—undermine the credibility of the ceasefire. The disagreement highlights deep divisions between both sides, even as the truce technically remains in place.
While extending the ceasefire, Trump also signaled that it is not open-ended, suggesting that Iran has a limited window to respond before the United States reassesses its approach. This introduces a sense of urgency into an already fragile situation, with both diplomatic and military considerations shaping the next steps.
Pakistan continues to play a mediating role, urging both sides to use the extended pause in hostilities to return to the negotiating table. However, with positions still far apart and trust in short supply, the path toward a comprehensive agreement remains uncertain.
For now, the ceasefire holds, but its future depends heavily on whether renewed talks materialize and whether both sides can move toward a shared framework for resolution.
