Panic is reportedly spreading through Republican circles as former special counsel Jack Smith, in a newly released congressional testimony transcript, explicitly named several individuals as alleged unindicted co-conspirators in the federal investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election—figures Donald Trump was said to be in direct contact with, people he trusted and relied on, who allegedly played key roles in schemes leading to the events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

In the December 2025 deposition released by House Republicans, Smith identified attorneys Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Kenneth Chesebro, John Eastman, and Boris Epshteyn as key co-conspirators working alongside Trump.

Smith testified that his team had gathered sufficient evidence to potentially charge some of them but had not finalized decisions before Trump’s reelection halted the prosecution.

After years of speculation—during which these individuals were described anonymously in indictments—the hidden truth is finally coming into the open in Smith’s own words.

Many Americans are reacting with shock and calls for accountability as the names of prominent Republicans allegedly connected to the Capitol events are reiterated publicly, sending shockwaves through Washington.

Smith emphasized in the transcript that Trump was “by a large measure the most culpable and most responsible person in this conspiracy,” and that the Capitol attack “does not happen without him.”

He noted cooperation from some co-conspirators and reliance on testimony from Republican officials who prioritized country over party.

Political chaos has erupted in GOP ranks, with allies distancing themselves and critics renewing demands for scrutiny.

The fallout from these revelations, amid a dismissed federal case, is only just beginning as Congress debates further hearings.
